About Mr Shareef
Mr Omar Shareef is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where he is Cancer Lead and Educational Lead for urology at Leighton Hospital, Crewe. He sees private patients at Spire Regency Hospital, Macclesfield.
He qualified in medicine in 2003 and has spent more than twenty years in urology. His practice centres on the early diagnosis of urological cancers and on minimally invasive surgery, including Rezum water-vapour therapy and UroLift for benign prostate enlargement. He has more than five years’ experience in robotic urological surgery.
Alongside clinical work, he is a faculty member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, an associate and PLAB examiner for the General Medical Council, and a postgraduate tutor in urology at the University of Edinburgh, where he was named Tutor of the Year. He is also a urology trainer for the North West Deanery.
Away from the operating theatre, he raises funds for Prostate Cancer UK.
Research & publications
Sixteen peer-reviewed papers and case reports, with further work in press, and presentations at international meetings including the American College of Surgeons Annual Congress.
